Seaside Modern Farmhouse
This house is perched on the fragile shoreline of Puget Sound. A complete tear-down of the house would have distressed the fragile shoreline. The team opted to treat the site gently and retain the house. Portions of the structure were removed – improving the shoreline setback. Additions were in the center- leaving shoreline setbacks and neighboring views unaffected. Impervious pathways in the shoreline buffer were removed. Flowerbeds (requiring chemicals fertilizers) were replaced with drought-resistant native vegetation.
